Meleghy Automotive Barcelona is investing in advanced manufacturing capabilities for structural components for the next generation of electric vehicles. The project focuses on the development and industrialization of production processes for components related to the new Volkswagen Group electric platform (MEB21F).
As part of this investment, the site is implementing flexible automated welding systems equipped with state-of-the-art industrial robots and advanced process monitoring technologies. These measures are designed to further enhance production efficiency, process stability, product quality and the overall energy performance of the manufacturing installations.
Serial production is planned to begin in 2026 and will support the manufacture of four electric vehicle models to be produced at SEAT’s Martorell plant and Volkswagen’s Navarra plant. The investment reinforces Meleghy Automotive Barcelona’s role as a reliable industrial partner in the transition toward electric mobility while also helping to secure long-term industrial activity and employment at the site.
At the same time, the project contributes to more sustainable manufacturing by promoting technologies that reduce energy consumption and improve the efficient use of resources in industrial operations.
This project is carried out with the support of ACCIÓ – Agency for Business Competitiveness, within the framework of the 2023 High Impact Business Investment Grants Program promoted by the Department of Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia.
