5 years Meleghy International – a story of success
It has been 5 years since the agreement on the acquisition of the Neef Group, Wilnsdorf, by the Meleghy & Cie. Automotive, Bergisch Gladbach, was signed. At that time, the new shareholders declared:
“Our goal is it, to develop the company Neef on a lasting basis and to carry it with the character of a medium-sized family company”.
Five years later, the company with two locations has already become 6 companies with 7 locations. The sheet metal processing company Meleghy Automotive is now part of the company group Meleghy International. Dr. Gyula Meleghy, managing director, says:
“After five years we have been able to stabilize our companies and internationalize our medium-sized family business.”
Despite the rapid growth, we still live the family company philosophy “We are family”. Under this motto, we develop, promote and grow our business.
With our two Spanish locations in Abrera, Barcelona, our Czech location Brandýs nad Labem (near Prague) as well as the German locations of Bernsbach, Gera, Gummersbach, Lößnitz and Wilnsdorf, we are ideally positioned, both nationally and internationally, to the automotive industry.
Dr. Thomas Werle, managing director and responsible for production and technology, can also claim 5 years later: “With the existing and newly invested technical equipment in the field of press and plant engineering, Meleghy International has the tools for a successful and competitive future. In the meantime, we have trained our own specialists at all locations. To this end, we have developed various training programs that are specifically tailored to the requirements of modern production. We are very proud of this.”
At that time, it was an important aspect for Michael Scharff, Managing Director, to extend the existing customer structure in the automotive and non-automotive sector in order to make the companies competitive again. “In the meantime, we are the top supplier of almost all well-known automotive manufacturers and are expanding these structures every day. Today, we are on a solid economic base and look forward to further future challenges”, said Michael Scharff.
The shareholders continue to focus on the further development of all sites, which offer attractive opportunities for future growth through existing expansion areas, structural conditions and are examining further possibilities of internationalization. Meleghy International is currently expanding its Brandýs nad Labem facility to include a stamping plant to optimally supply the Eastern European market and to offer competitive support to German plants. The plants Bernsbach, Wilnsdorf and Gera are well utilized with new projects for car body assemblies. A special feature of the Lößnitz plant is the production of small batches as well as the flexible production of spare parts. In the field of product development in Germany, a new business field was opened with body reinforcing elements, which are produced by means of mechanical joining processes. In addition, the group in Spain is now developing crash assemblies.
