Meleghy Automotive Bernsbach GmbH builds new body-in-white location in Reinsdorf
Reinsdorf, 28.06.2019 – Meleghy Automotive Bernsbach GmbH is building a new body-in-white production plant at its new site in Reinsdorf. On 28 June, the ground-breaking ceremony was held by Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer, Mayor Steffen Ludwig, Management Dr. Gyula Meleghy, Dr. Thomas Werle, Michael Scharff and Plant Manager René Göbel.
This positive and motivating moment was celebrated together with the employees from Bernsbach and Lößnitz, the community of Reinsdorf and the contributions of the local day-care centers and the construction project was approved by the symbolic act of the first cut of the spade.
In order to meet the challenge and the new e-mobility projects in advance, the management decided to build a new 20,000 m² shell construction plant with an investment sum of around 40 million euros.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development of the State of Saxony, Reinsdorf was found to be the best option out of several possible locations. Reinsdorf, with its excellent logistic connections to the A72 and A4 motorways, its proximity to the Volkswagen Mosel plant and its immediate proximity to the existing Meleghy Automotive press plants in Bernsbach and Gera, offers ideal conditions. The relocation and restructuring will preserve and create 350 jobs. Due to the relocation, no redundancies will be necessary.
The project is groundbreaking for the development of the Meleghy International Group with all its locations and plants. The development at the Bernsbach site requires significant changes to the plant structure and logistical processes as a result of the projects. Due to their topographical location, the Bernsbach and Lößnitz sites are no longer able to cope with today’s competitive conditions and require a strategic relocation of production from the mountain to the valley.
